Numerical modeling is not only an approach to study water cycles, but also can serve as a tool for making decisions. However, few commonly used hydrologic models can be used as a decision-making tool because they are complex, difficult to run, and use non-user-friendly interfaces. To address these barriers, collaborating with scientists from EPA, we developed the Visualizing Ecosystems for Land Management Assessments Model (VELMA) using Porcessing. This model has become one of standard models used by the EPA for assessing land management.
